Requested: 14,900 USDCProposed by: Jimi Cohen (Treegens, Guinness World Record holder) with Creatress, Nouns community member and project liaison
TL;DR
On 26 July 2026, the Growlympics coordinates community tree planting events across 13 partner countries (including Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Indonesia, and Bolivia) working toward a collective goal of 1 billion trees in 24 hours, with an expected 30 to 100 million participants worldwide.
We're asking Nouns for 14,900 USDC to fund the permanent, verifiable, unmistakably Nounish pieces of the day:
Noggles-shaped trophies awarded to the winning planting teams of the Growlympic Games, on camera, on the global livestream.
A noggles-shaped microphone used for all event-day reporting and livestream coverage. Every interview, every country check-in, every press moment happens through noggles.
Noggles inside the Proof of Tree app, the open tree-tracking tool used by planting teams worldwide on event day and beyond.
A Nounish News episode documenting the day, minted with all proceeds going back to the Nouns treasury.
Every tree is geotagged and timestamped in Proof of Tree. Public recap after the event, plus follow-up reports at 3, 6, and 12 months including survival data.
Full line-item budget below. Not a sponsorship. Nounish proliferation, planted in living trees.
The lore: Nouns has been here since Prop 1
This proposal continues a thread that runs through the whole history of the DAO:
Prop 1 donated to the Coral Restoration Foundation. The DAO's first act was ecological.
Prop 960: Party Under the Sea built a permanent noggles Biorock reef in Indonesia. Noggles under the sea, growing coral.
Public Nouns (a Nounish sister DAO) backed the campaign in which Jimi Cohen broke the Guinness World Record for most mangrove trees planted by an individual in 24 hours: 30,469 trees, certified 22 April 2024 in Kwale, Kenya (record).
Spending is priced the same way the Coffer prices the treasury: today's prices, today's balances. Moving money between the DAO's own wallets, setting approval limits and swapping one asset for another do not count as spending. NFTs and calls whose effect is unknown are left unpriced.
The yearly staking yield takes what is staked right now at its current rate for one year. It leaves out auction income, price moves and any change to the balances or rates.

Action 1: A current USDC price is unavailable.
A current treasury and staking-yield benchmark is unavailable.
The proposer can still edit for a short while after posting. Then it waits for voting to open. Voting runs for a set number of days. If the result flips near the end, an objection period opens where only Against votes are allowed.
To pass, a proposal needs two things at the close: at least as many For votes as the quorum, and more For than Against. The quorum is not fixed. It starts at a minimum and rises with every Against vote, up to a cap, so a contested proposal needs more support than a quiet one.
A passed proposal waits in a timelock, then anyone can execute it until its grace period runs out. The proposer can cancel any time before that. The vetoer can veto a malicious one.
TL;DR: A modest 14,900 USDC ask for Nounish-branded deliverables tied to a large public-good tree-planting event is below-cap mission spending that proliferates the brand, so it defaults…
The ask (~14,900 USDC) is well below the 100 ETH cap and funds Nounish artifacts — noggles trophies, a noggles mic, app branding, and a minted Nounish News episode whose proceeds return to the treasury — that spread the brand and CC0 culture, defaulting FOR under I.1 and I.3. Treegens is a public-benefit tree-planting effort, so it is judged as charitable mission work under I.6 rather than as a commercial partnership. Deliverables include follow-up reporting at 3/6/12 months, and the cost of a failed small experiment is a rounding error. The calldata is truncated in the provided data, so the exact recipient and amount could not be fully verified against the stated ask, which caps confidence.
[ suggestions ]
Publish the fully decoded calldata so the recipient address and USDC amount can be verified against the 14,900 stated ask.
Attach the referenced country-partnership documentation onchain rather than 'available on request.'
gl but too last minute imo, only 1 day from funds being released until the event... doesn't seem like enough time to create trophy etc would have appreciated earlier proposal with more visuals of what nouns is paying for here
the type of thing a 501c3 sister entity could fund via recommendation proposal

Noggles are already growing coral underwater. This proposal puts them in the hands of the planet's best tree planters, on the single biggest day of climate action ever attempted. It's on International Mangrove day & mangroves also support coral reefs.
What is the Growlympics?
A one-day, worldwide, community-led tree planting competition on 26 July 2026, coordinated by the Treegens GROWalition across 13 partner countries, with an expected 30 to 100 million participants. The benchmark that makes the goal credible: Ethiopia's Green Legacy initiative planted 714.7 million trees in 12 hours on 31 July 2025 with 29 million participants (Ethiopian News Agency), after planting 353.6 million in a day in 2019. One country has already done seven tenths of the goal alone. The Growlympics adds twelve more.
Jimi Team on the ground in Ethiopia with Addis Ababa Police College planting teams during Green Legacy's 700M+ seedling day.
Top-performing planting teams compete for prizes. Every tree is logged in the open Proof of Tree app: geotagged, timestamped, photographed.
Country partnerships, in person
Ethiopia: Green Legacy Initiative lead (40.1B trees planted since 2019)
Nigeria: Federal Minister of Environment
Indonesia: national delegation at COP
Documentation for country partnerships and commitments is linked in the discussion thread and available on request. We would rather under-claim and over-deliver.

The official trophy of the Growlympic Games, awarded to the top planting teams on earth, is shaped as noggles. The moment the world's best tree planters lift their prize, they lift noggles, on the livestream, in the press photos, in the recap film, and in every retelling of the day. Trophies live on permanently with the winning teams and their communities.
*The Growlympics trophy: noggles, lifted by the best tree planters on earth. (this image is AI generation & is an approximate design) we would love to include cco 3d *
2. The Noggles Mic 🎤⌐◨-◨
All event-day reporting and livestream coverage happens through a custom noggles-shaped microphone. Every country check-in, every interview with planters, organizers, and officials puts noggles in frame. It's the visual signature of the entire broadcast.
The noggles mic: every event-day interview and livestream report happens through noggles (this image is AI generated & is an opproximate design, we would love to collaborate with existing nounish artists if any desire to share available cco 3d files).
3. Noggles in Proof of Tree 📱
The open tree-tracking app used by planting teams in all partner countries on event day. Noggles integrated natively into the app experience (not a banner ad), in front of every planter and every verifier, on the day and permanently after.
How every tree gets counted: recorded in the field, verified with before/after footage, ranked on the leaderboard. This is where the noggles live.
4. A Nounish News episode, proceeds to the treasury 📺
A professionally produced episode covering the day, released as a mint with 100% of proceeds returned to the Nouns treasury. Nouns funds the story, and the story pays the DAO back.
Live from the mangroves: the event-day broadcast that the Nounish News episode will be cut from.
5. Noggles on the day itself 🥇
Noggles on the official Growlympics shirts worn by Jimi and team leads, on the livestream, and in the recap film. The Growlympics prize pool (part-funded by this proposal) is announced as supported by Nouns DAO.
The moment the world record broke in Kwale, Kenya. On 26 July, these shirts carry noggles.
Media: where the noggles will be seen
The Growlympics works with a professional publicist who has placed stories with all the major publications. The campaign has already been featured on BBC, CNBC ESG News, and more, and there is strong active interest from BBC journalists for event coverage. BBC alone reaches 313 million people weekly. To be clear on framing: Nouns funds are not paying for PR (see Transparency below). The media engine is already running. What this prop does is make sure that when the cameras roll, the trophy being lifted and the microphone doing the reporting are noggles.
Deliverables
Noggles trophies designed, fabricated, and awarded to winning teams on the 26 July livestream, documented in photo and video.
Noggles microphone fabricated and used for all event-day reporting and livestream segments.
Noggles integration live in Proof of Tree before event day.
Nounish News episode produced and minted, proceeds to the Nouns treasury.
Public recap report: trees logged, countries participating, prize winners, media coverage links, all Proof of Tree data links.
Follow-up reports at 3, 6, and 12 months with Proof of Tree data and survival tracking from partner planting teams, publicly available.
Success metrics
Judge this prop on Nounish proliferation, not just trees:
Noggles trophies awarded on the global livestream, documented ✅
Noggles mic in frame across event-day coverage and press clips ✅
Proof of Tree noggles integration shipped and screenshotted ✅
Event day recap with verifiable planting data published ✅
Nounish News mint live, treasury receipt onchain ✅
3/6/12-month follow-up reports posted to this thread ✅
Everything above is public and checkable. If we miss a milestone, you'll see it.
Budget: where the 14,900 USDC goes
All costs in USDC. Nouns funds go only to the Nounish deliverables and the community prize pool, not general event overhead or PR. Global production, logistics, and publicity are funded separately (see Transparency below).

Transparency: other funding
The Growlympics as a whole is funded by a mix of corporate sponsors, in-kind partners, and country-level programs. Those funds cover global production, broadcast, logistics, and the professional publicist. This proposal is not asking Nouns to carry the event. It funds the specific, permanent, Nounish artifacts listed above, none of which are funded from any other source. Same logic as Prop 960: other funders scale the machine, Nouns funds the icon.
Team and track record
Jimi Cohen, founder of Treegens: holds the certified Guinness World Record for most mangroves planted by an individual in 24 hours (30,469, Kwale, Kenya, April 2024). Has delivered a record-scale planting operation before, with the same coordination team now running the Growlympics.
Creatress: Nouns community member and environmental artist, serving as liaison to the DAO. She will present this proposal at Nouncil and post all updates to this thread.
13 country planting partners coordinated through the GROWalition, led by Ethiopia, the most active partner nation and holder of the current single-day planting record.
Timing
Event day is 24 hours around 26 July 2026. Funds are needed promptly before execution to fabricate the trophies and mic and ship the app integration. Designs and fabricators are lined up; this prop is the trigger.
Why vote yes
Prop 1 planted coral. This prop puts noggles in the hands of the world's best tree planters, on the trophy, on the mic, and in the app, on the largest single day of tree planting ever attempted.
A lot of proposals promise reach. This one puts noggles at the center of the frame.
It's impactful. It's weird. It's good for the earth. It's Nounish.
